• Helping young people with depression

We are working with a number of partners including Big Radical and the National Centre for Universities and Business to explore what depression is, who suffers from it, who it impacts on and how we might design new ways to prevent it too.

The main focus of the brief is helping people who may have friends and family at risk of depression understand it better and take action to mitigate its impact.

Recently we ran an end user workshop and a two day innovation sprint to develop deeper insight, prototype six solutions and six top line investment cases.

60 people and 6 teams comprised of end users, psychologists and other health care professionals, games developers, coders, strategists, UX, interaction and visual designers, cognitive scientists and a whole host of other innovators collaborated to investigate the brief.

The image is Rorschach test experiments artist Georgina McCann ran in 2014. Rorschach tests were developed by Swiss psychologist Hermann Rorschach. They are used to explore a person's personality characteristics and emotional functioning.

A person's perceptions of ink splatters and blots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation, complex algorithms, or both.

It has also been used to detect thought disorder, especially in cases where patients are reluctant to describe their thinking processes openly.
